Blue Bottle (Calliphora vicina)

In many insect guides the blue bottle depicted is not the species on this page, but rather Calliphora vomitoria. However this is a very rare species. Usually the bluebottle seen in gardens and sometimes indoors is this one, Calliphora vicina.
