Stone Centipede (Lithobius microps )

There are probably some 15 species of Stone Centipedes in Britain. This is a very common one, at least in England and Southern Wales. It also is one of the smallest centipedes. It has a very light colour, most other species are much darker. It runs extremely fast and is very difficult to photograph in its natural habitat in the wild. Regretfully, the picture in this page is not of an outstanding quality and I hope to take a better one sometime.

Lithobius microps is also known under scientific names of Lithobius duboscqui, Lithobius (Haplolithobius) olivarum and Sigibius puritanicus.
